Tremor-Taurus Blast by Dualmask Tremor-Taurus Blast by Dualmask
Some fairly quick colors on my sketch of Richter Brahms, aka Tremor of the Terran team in my WEAPON Combat League concept. Went a little trigger-happy with the special effects and what not.

The first in a series of revitalized WCL character images, depending upon how long I can keep it up. Hopefully I can overcome whatever it is that makes my WCL work less appealing than my other works and characters.

As always, solid CG work. Everything looks like they're done with the utmost skill and care. The energy beam looks great! It feels so bright and powerful. A bit too clean IMHO, but that's just my personal preference. XD

Thanks! I want to improve the way I render special effects. I need to study anime or something to see how they do it.

I feel as if he has a bit of a Megaman influence. I like the colors! The feet though...something seems a bit off on them, but I can't place it. But otherwise, nice work!

THanks! Yeah, my whole WCL concept is influenced a bit by Mega Man. I've always been a huge fan of the series. You may be right about the feet, I always have a little trouble with them.

I like the colors- the almost monochromatic scheme works well to convey energy and power in that blast. The reflections are particularly well done, and add a good effect to the whole scene. It looks like a powerful blast- he looks to be straining to deal it out. Great work!

Thanks! One of the major things I've always wanted to do with WCL is have a strong emphasis on special effects and lighting, glows, beams and the like. From the beginning it was all about being a visual about-face from my other relatively tame ideas. With this, I feel I'm getting closer to the energy and vibrance I want every WCL battle and image to express.

Your digital work always appear to have a solid level of polish and impact, and this is no exception. The effects on the blast itself is well done, but I'm probably most impressed with the appeal and depth you were able to create with Tremor's armor. Not the easiest thing to do to provide that sense of depth and unity working with a glow effect on a cel-shaded coloring, but you seem to make every little 'shape' with your shades and highlights fit, regardless of what it's representing.

I would have preferred to see more of an impact with the ground, actually. It's such a great way to showcase the force of the blast, it's a bit of a shame that it isn't a bigger part of the piece. Still, that's just a personal preference thing from my point of view, I suppose. Nevertheless, it's good to see you get to work on coloring some of these sketches. You put my worries about that to rest before they really started take form, really. =P

Great work, as usual. :)

Thanks! I try my best to keep the perceived 3D shape of the character in mind when I create the shapes for highlights and shadows, and after coloring this way for so long, it's becoming easier. I'm not always successful but practice makes better.

You're right, I should have pushed the ground impact further; it would have gone a long way toward really emphasizing the sense of power coming from his force beam cannon. I'll have to be sure to go further next time.

I like the shiny armor. Awesome gun power effect; it's so powerful looking. Love all that yellow. Excellent attention to details like the guy's feet making marks as the gun pushes him back.

It's epic for sure. I'd hate to be the target of that blast. :fear:

Richter's the kind of guy who would blast you just for talking out of turn, too... :noes:
