For those who don't know, RPB stands for "Random Practice Babe"...it's when I arbitrarily decide to draw a female pinup for the heck of it (I call it practice, but...drawing this sort of thing isn't much of a challenge for me). In this case, it's not a completely random chick...
I decided to force myself to do some fan art today, as an exercise to get myself to follow through on something I start. Whenever I try to draw fan art, except in rare instances, I lose interest very quickly. So I made myself see this through, even though it's simple.
I referenced a pose I liked and turned it into Empowered, the main character of the graphic novel series of the same name by . Fun character, fun book. (The name of this deviation comes from the fact that Empowered's real name is Elissa Megan Powers.)
I also drew my version of Marvel's Black Widow today, but I screwed up the shading and it's...not fit for public consumption. Stupid me tried to do shading with a colored pencil because I was tired of using my mechanical one...big mistake. But the drawing is still inkable...
It's a good rendition of the character- very much as she looks, but with your own individual style informing it. It's too bad about the other picture, but this one has a good shading style to it.
Yeah, her mask actually looks sort of like that (you can see mountains of art of the character in 's gallery). To be honest I've been teetering between cartoon faces and realistic ones for a while now and I'm not quite sure which one I prefer.
