I couldn't sleep, so I was going through more old drawings and dug up this little gem from last year.

I actually used it as part of my Daily Draw February challenge in 2012. Always kind of liked it despite its simplicity. I don't really know what drove me to color it... just wanted to whip something out I guess.

She's meant to be the nemesis of Christiana

but I don't know when or if I'm ever going to tell that tale.

I like that the overall concept is backed up with a good quality, and everything is clear and well represented in the piece. Though some of the flaws I might have to point out is that although the choice to make the highlights for the skin very soft was a good one, the shadows are very strict on the skin and break some of the smoothness of the skin. The shadows on the skin should be soft, but maybe not as soft as the highlights, though having strict shadows is a very effective thing to keep on the armor, it makes it more solid and sturdy. Results vary when on the shading for the clothes, but here it works nicely.

Although it is not necessary, having the light from the right hand influence your lighting would make the drawing more 3-d. Though it is just something that is easily explained since it is "magic."

I do like the drawing, my only other beef with the drawing is fashion vs function, but that is just me. Other than that it is a cool style, and real effort does show in this drawing, so kuddos to you~

Thanks! Really, it's the same way I've been coloring a lot lately, but this time it's over pencils with a paper texture and some noise. I think it made for a real nice, different effect.

Definitely. I have whole folders stuffed with crappy old sketches going back years, knowing one day I'll find them and be inspired. Have been doing a huge amount of that lately, as it happens.
