I did something quite different (different for me anyway) with this piece. I inked this without using my mainstay method, Photoshop's pen tool, at all. I used Paint Tool SAI to do these lines, drawing directly instead of using the pen tool to make shapes of the lines, and then colored in Photoshop. Better or worse?
Thanks! It was a quick job and I didn't really want it to be a complicated image, so I went with something completely loose and freeform.
At first, I didn't like SAI because I'm not really good at "pure" drawing on a tablet, which is why I use Photoshop's pen tool for digital inking. But between SAI's stabilizer and the vector line work tools, I'm liking it a lot more now. Plus SAI is a really light program so it loads fast and it's easy to switch back and forth between it and Photoshop, so I can easily take advantage of both programs without slowing down my workflow. I like how its blur tool blends colors far better than Photoshop, too. Long story short, SAI is here to stay as far as I'm concerned.
