I colored it. Though, I spent more time just staring at the screen deciding how, or if, I was going to color it than anything. What should have taken no more than 3-5 hours ended up eating up my entire day.
I feel like I would have benefited myself more by drawing more pics of Jet than spending all day coloring this. Oh well, I like how I handled it, anyway, especially the boots. It's nice how a little extra attention can go a long way.
Edit: altered the hair highlights as suggested by .
Edit 2: added ambient highlights as suggested by as well as some other minor tweaks.
Because I don't get too many in-depth critiques here, I decided to take this to Penciljack to get some feedback. I got a lot of useful stuff from the folks there. I don't really like to say "how high" when someone says "jump", but those who commented did help me come to terms with some common themes:
- The face is the weakest part of this image. I've drawn better faces in the past. Jet Dancer 2010, for example, is much more attractive than the 2011 version.
- My style is clearly not suited for great detail. Some stated that it was a mistake for me to put such high detail in her abdomen area when I've done so much less detail on the other parts. Rather than add more, it would probably be better to stick with softer levels of detail (another reason why Jet Dancer 2010 is actually superior).
- The pose is probably not as natural as it could be.
That's pretty much the gist of what I got from Penciljack. The rest of the feedback felt subjective enough that I can safely give it light consideration.
Actually they're shorts, but the sides that don't cover the bikini area are made out of fish nets. It's a costume that's meant to be revealing because that's just the kind of gal she is.
